Blume Illustrated Festival & Magazine

 “Blume Illustrated” is a multi faceted project that encompasses an annual illustration focused magazine and festival. The project is being developed and coordinated by Katoomba based illustrator, visual artist and educator Faye Wilson.

Blume Illustrated magazine will be published to coincide with the festival and aims to harness the mighty talents of Blue Mountains illustrators, writers, creatives and thinkers and thier colleagues in an arts magazine with a difference. Blume Illustrated has the overall objective to highlight and support regional creatives through a beatifully designed publication that provides a much needed voice for truly independant artists and thinkers.

Blume Illustrated magazine will feature articles on illustrators and creatives, essays, poetry, cartoons and lots more.

Blume Illustration Festival will be held over May 2017 - with a month long program of exhibitions and events throughout Katoomba - showcasing a rich cast of local talent as well as esteemed illustrators and related professionals from Australia and beyond.

The main exhibition for the festival will be held over the last two weeks of May at Gallery 188 in Katoomba Street from May 23 - 29th, 2017. Up 50 illustrations submitted on the theme of Books (in and out of print) will be offered as signed A3 plus sized archival prints. The opening will take place on Friday, May 26 from 6pm till 9pm and will be the opening event for the main weekend festival of events.

The Eat,Think, Drink Illustration trail will run during the month of May - with mini exhibitions of illustrators artworks in many Katoomba restaurants, bars and businesses.

The panel events for the festival will be held at the beautiful Art Deco YHA Katoomba on Saturday May 27 from 9.30 till 4.30pm with guests such as Nick Stanopoulos, Rocco Fazzari, Chris Neilson, Chips Mackinolty, Emma Magenta, Tohby Riddle  and a host of over 25 visiting and local illustration professionals delivering a day presentations and events. An absolute must for anyone with an interest in art, design, literature and publishing. A lunch of home made soups and bread will be served and is included in the price. Winsor and Newton will aslo be up with an expoof art materials from their extensive range for guest to try out and learn about.
